Magazines are publications, usually periodical publications that are printed or published electronically. They are mainly published on a regular schedule and include a variety of content for all genres. They are usually financed by advertising, by a purchase price or by prepaid subscriptions. The distribution of the magazines can be through the mail; through sales by newsstands, bookstores, or other vendors; or through free distribution at selected pick up locations. Magazines try to cater for many different audiences, varying on age, gender, location, sex, hobbies, and lifestyle.

However recently there have been issues to magazines as technology-based media such as online magazines, newspapers and books, is growing rapidly and will only continue to increase. In addition to affecting the printing and publishing companies due to a shift in the market. Even though there is still a high demand for magazines therefore they won’t decline although they need to work harder to survive in the industry.

1. TV Choice- they have has an estimated retail sale value of £18 a copy in 2014, £1,303,011 newsstand single copy 2014, and have engross of 1.6% sales since 2013.
2. What’s on TV- they have has an estimated retail sale value of £27.90 a copy in 2014, 1,033,376 newsstand single copy 2014, but have had a fall in sales of -4.4% since 2013.
3. Take a Break- they have has an estimated retail sale value of £29.80 a copy in 2014, 651,162 newsstand single copy 2014, but have a massive decrease sales of -8.8% since 2013.
This shows that the audience interest in mainly magazines that include content on TV and information on the programmes in addition the programme guides, this is the genre of TV listings. Also the use of real life stories for people to engage and relate to common lifestyles.
