Initial Ideas For My Magazine

My initial ideas for my music magazine is to create a new original music magazine based around new music and the download charts. There will be articles featuring celebrity gossip, news and fashion to open up to a wide range of audience, for both genders. Therefore I need the front cover to be unique and interesting to catch the reader’s eye in wanting to buy my magazine in addition to the content used.

I’ll follow the main stereotypical layout as this way everyone can identify it to be a magazine however change some of the key conventions to help my magazine stand out and be different to other music magazines. I’ll mainly focus on the title and font of the magazine as this in the mast head which is placed at the top left corner and the first thing the reader focuses and read therefore need to be engaged and intrigued straight away. Also I will need to concentrate on the colours for the magazine so it can be portrayed in a good way and not mislead the audience in what the magazine includes, therefore I want the colours to be fresh and glossy, making it current to today's audience. I want my magazine to be used as escapism for people to read in their spare time and then speak to others about it creating a social aspect to the magazine. Hopefully it will be something that everyone can relate to and find interesting, constructing and developing the music industry and bringing in more production value.

Results Analysis For My College Magazine

Results Analysis For My College Magazine

Once collecting in the results from the questionnaire magazine I found that there were 69% of female answers to 31% of male this could affect the results due to it could be more an advantage for instance stereotypical female colours could be more favorable to the college magazine.

It shows from my results that when I asked what type of articles would interest people most the 3 top topics were music, sports and fashion in comparison to topics like resources for school which suggests people don't have an interest in reading that type of material so therefore when creating my college magazine i will ensure i put these suggestions into the magazine.

When asking what people are most likely to pay for the college magazine the highest result with 16 is £2, which is understandable because we need to take into account that students will be buying the college magazine so therefore not everyone will be able to afford it so ill need to make the price more reasonable to bring in more buyers to gain a bigger income. This then will me produced fortnightly as this was the popular result with 42% interested in contrast to weekly and monthly.

The results show that people would like to see either red, blue or purple on the college magazine as these colours are stereotypical for boys and girls interest so it would interest a wider audience for both genders to read. So when creating my magazine its most likely for these colours to be used as by listening to the target audience this is what they like to what they'll most likely to buy. Moreover, when asking if students would like to receive freebees in their magazine 93% said yes so this would give the magazine a production value which will draw in more people to buy the magazine for the freebees that comes with it.

Although when we asked if people would prefer an online version to encourage you to read it the most popular answer was no with 53% so it was close however I think people would prefer to read a magazine paper copy even though it surprised me as most people our age living a student life is always using technology so though that it would easier access. Also when I asked people what they would like to see on the front cover of the magazine the favorable answer was people/students with 20 people agreeing to this. This result could suggest that people are more likely to buy it because its something they can relate to in addition to knowing what the magazine is about suggesting that they what a magazine directed at them to create a personal connection with the audience.

It was big difference in percentage when asking people if they would like to contribute to the magazine as 70% resulted in a no suggesting that people are more interested in reading then writing an article which is understandable due to the busy life of a student as people would prefer to socialize with friends or keep on top of revision so wen creating a magazine id need to research a way of making the articles within the magazine. Lastly, 77% of people said no when I asked if they would like email updates about the magazine which is time consuming because then I wouldn't waste time sending out emails that most people wont read as individuals have admitted that they don't even read their emails.
